I apologize for not coming to family night this past month, I've just been so busy! So to make it up to you, I decided to add something to our minutes:
So I'm sure that my mother has told you all about where I am and all of my crazy adventures. Although I miss all of you, there is no place I'd rather be than here serving the Lord. One of the first few principles we teach as missionaries is that the gospel blesses families. I can testify to this eternal truth. The evidence is in this room (your room, not mine). We have held tight to the rod of iron and have been united through the teachings of Jesus Christ. We have had struggles and weaknesses, as does every family, but I have seen those weaknesses become strengths through the gospel. I am grateful for the righteous examples that our parents have given us, especially the mothers. The stripling warriors had similar feelings. Can someone open to Alma 56:4-48? (Have someone read this please.) Because of their mother's teachings and their dependency on the Lord, God delivered them and I have received the same blessing. I bear witness that we can be together forever with our loved ones who have passed away and also with the ones we still have today. This is the reason why I serve. I serve because I have a loving Heavenly Father who makes that possible. I serve for HIm, I serve for the Lord Jesus Christ, and I serve for you. I leave these things with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Love Elder Austin
