Letters from Elder Austin Dated August 14, 2013

I've only been here for a week and I'm talking like the locals. I use the phrases like "I need to use the toilet" or "that's a really posh area". It's crazy! Sooner or later I'm gonna be saying "tanks" instead of thanks or "tink" instead of think. I had a bitter-sweet lesson today with a less-active older lady who lives alone. We talked about the importance of faith and how trials make us stronger. She said because of all of the deaths in her family and the trials it brought, she has all the faith in the world. She had a couple of newborn babies die so she used to have a hard time. She even said she felt the veil being removed right before someone died. She said that even if she never went to church again, because of what she went though, she could not deny the truth. I was so happy because of her faith, but so frustrated because of her inactivity. I don't get people sometimes. Oh, well....that's all! Love you! Elder Austin
